I think that the most important message of the film was that it was a propaganda film and it made people want to join the nazi party. The film showed the side of Hitler and his nazi party that he wanted to get across to viewers. It showed him helping the German's get new jobs, have a decent meal, and stay clean and healthy. I think that the director was successful in trying to portray Germany's return as a great power. It showed Hitler speaking in a way that entrances his listeners and makes them want to follow his word. We saw thousands of people gathered and saluting to him as he spoke. This makes Hitler look like a well-liked, powerful leader who everyone supports. I don't think that it is right for someone to twist what Hitler and the Nazi's did into something that seems great.

Unfortunately, I was absent the day we watched "Triumph of the Will" so I did not see it.

The most important message of the film "Triumph of The Will" was that the Nazi party would be the savior to the German problem. Germany was facing immense economic problems at the time, and the government needed to choose between the Nazis and the Communists if order was to be maintained. I believe that the director was highly efficient in convincing the German citizens that the nation was returning to power. I thought that the music played a large role in the film's influence. I agree with Jenny that the portrayal of clean, healthy, and happy Germans made the Nazi party seem like the solution. The film is evidence that well made propaganda can work wonders in the political world.

The film was a great marketing tool for the nazi party. That is what i believe was the most important purpose of the film. It is a propaganda film, meaning its purpose is to convey and message and hopefully pursuade people to do something. In thios case, join the nazi party. Hitler achieved this by portreying a vision of success and achievement by Germany. He showed Germany in a better place due to the changes hes been responsible for. The people of Germany really respected and idolized Hitler. The film showed them rallying around him like he was a famous celebrity or something. They all saluted him and commended his actions. I do believe that the film was very effective in its pursuasive purpose and the director achieved his goals.

I agree with Brenton and Jenny in that the reality of what the nazi party did led by Hitler was displayed in an innaccurate and unfortuate way in order to attract more followers.

I believe that the most important message of this film “Triumph of the Will” was that the Nazi party would help Germany. The purpose was to make the people want to join the Nazi party. The director of the film was successful in portraying Germany’s return to great power just by showing Hitler’s manner of speaking. She showed how he does not read off of papers, he entrances and captivated his audiences. Hitler is depicted as a well liked person that is supported by nearly everyone. Everyone saluted him and cheered for him. I think it is wrong to portray something so wrong in this way.

I agree with Chris Jenny and Brenton in that this was a propaganda film the Nazi party and Hitler were displayed in an inaccurate way.

The most important message from the film was the fact that they made the Nazi party seem like the best thing even therefore making people want to join it. The film showed what seemed to be the good side to Hitler.I believe the director was successful at portraying Germany's return as a great power. Hitler was portrayed as the saviour of the people. Millions upon millions of people went to salute him and watch him speak with such devotion. When he would parade down the street women and children would shower him with flowers and gifts.

I agree with chris that the film was very effective in its purpose but i dont agree with the film at all since its portraying him as good when in reality he was not.

I agree with Berit. I think that the fact that Hilter was able to speak without notes or teleprompters made him as powerful as he was.

I personally believe that the most important message in this film is that it made the Nazi party look like it was good for Germany, and it made sure that many more Germans were going to join the party. Also, this film did a fantastic job of using propaganda to make it look like the Nazi's were all great people and loved by all. The director of this film was definitely able to show Germany returning as a great power. She did this by showing how there were so many German soldiers ready to fight for the Nazi's and for Germany. Also, this film makes Hitler look like he is some sort of rock star or movie star. Every time he was shown in the movie, there were always tons of people going crazy for him and saluting him.

Andy Tabb said...

I agree with Brenton in that the music that was playing in the background during the movie was very influential.

I thought the most important message of the film was the power of propaganda. It clearly displayed every aspect of the nazi party in a positive light. Since the world was in a depression at this time, images of order, fun, and and plentiful food could be very powerful. The images of Nazi members all marching in step were very powerful, and Riefenstahl was successful in portraying Germany under the Nazis as powerful as or even more powerful than Germany during WWI. Hitler is portrayed as more than just a politician, but as a great leader and savior. As he was an unknown figure that rose rapidly, this would have been an easy image to accept. We have a modern preconception of Hitler, but people in the 30s would have viewed him with an open mind.

I think that the most important message of the film is to question what people tell you. The Nazis were able to brainwash people into thinking that they were good because they chose what images to use to represent themselves. People simply believed them without looking too deeply into it and then accepted the Nazis. I think that the director was successful in showing Germany's return to power because it was definitely a feel good movie for Germans at that time. The people in the movie all seemed well taken care of and generally happy with their lives under Hitler. Hitler is portrayed as a commanding, compelling leader. He is also shown to care about his people because he went to visit the camps where the youths were staying.

Ellen Donahue said...

I agree with Jenny that the film showing people supporting, listening to, and saluting Hitler definitely helped portray Hitler positively. Showing huge crowds agreeing with Hitler could help create a mob mentality and sway people who may have been neutral before to agree with Hitler.

The film "triumph of the Will" is an important film to the Germans because it is propaganda for pro-Nazi. The film displayed everything positive that Hitler wanted the people of Germany to see and believe in. It showed him feeding the German's and living good lives. This film was completely biased towards Hitler and Nazism.
I agree with Brenton, the whole point of this film was to show the Nazi party in a positive life and that it was going to save Germany.
Not only was this film influential, the way the the director was able to use the camera's from different points of view and music was also able to reach the German's attention and focus on the propaganda of the film.

Watching the Triumph of the Will I learned more about how the Germans looked at the war and the months leading up to it. The most important message of the film was to show Hitler as a hero. He was always filmed being saluted to and respected. The director was successful in portraying Germany’s return as a great power. She showed Germany as a strong, organized country. Hitler was given the image as a political hero. Film footage consisted of hundreds of people cheering for him and hearing some of his best speeches.

Steph Debs said...

I agree with Jess that the purpose of the film was a propaganda for pro-Nazi. Everything in the film was positive. They portrayed Hitler as a man who would help them become even stronger.

The purpose of the film was probably that Hitler wanted all of Germany to believe he was a god, a fair ruler, and incredibly kind to the German people. This propaganda is designed to convince the masses that Hitler is good, so that no one would dare challenge his leadership. This is helpful for Hitler once he starts to exterminate the Jews. I can see how this film would be powerful in its day, since the people in the film are happy and healthy under Hitler, at a time of great economic calamity.

I think the most important message of the film was the propaganda and how the Nazi’s were portrayed. They were shown as powerful and respectful and everybody treated Hitler as if he was a hero. In the film there was singing, cheering and saluting and showed that the Nazis were very triumphant. I do think that the director was successful because she made it seem as if the Germans were victorious and very powerful.

Gabby King said...

I agree with Ellen that the film was a “feel good movie” for the Germans during this time. They were shown as happy and giving a lot of respect to Hitler who was their compelling leader.

Fernando Silva said...

The most important message of the film was to show the German people how their country was becoming more powerful, and great under the power of Hitler. It was a propaganda for the Nazi party. That was the goal of the director, she wanted to show all the citizens how the country is climbing back, and how it came a long way after the Nazi party took over. Hitler look like a person who saved the country from what is was before.

Fernando Silva said...

I also agree with Ellen, this movie was a "feel good movie" and it makes them be proud to be German, after all they went though and all the hard times.

This film portrayed the great patriotism the Germans had for their country. It made the Nazi party look very attractive and was useful in convincing people to join the Nazi party. The director was succesful in showing Germany as a strong country because she depicted the pride, patriotism, and strength Hitler and the rest of the nazi party seemed to have for Germany. The fact that thousands of people listened attentively to Hitler's speeches and saluted him shows that he was a deeply respected leader and figure for the Nazi party of Germany.

Jen Bracey said...

I agree with Jenny that this film was definitley a good source of propaganda because it made people want to be a part of the huge Nazi party. The film used music, which added to the sense of patriotism and pride. By watching this film and seeing all the people worshipping Hitler as a great hero, and seeing all the people part of this group, it would definitley attract people to want to join.

This video did a great jobb at showing the unscene propoganda provided by the Germans. The way they were able to lead these people in the way they did is amazing. The use of eye contact is another important tool used to convince the people of Germany that the nazi party would lead the Germans to glory. The film was very good an I would recomend the film to anyone trying to search deeper into the nazi period.

Tony Silva said...

I beleive the most important message trying to be conveyed in the film was joining the nazi party. It was a propoganda film that was shown to the German people to try and sell them to join and support the nazi party

Tony Silva said...

I agree with Jenny that the most important aspect of this film is that it was propganda for the german people to try and get them to join the nazi party.

I agree with jen. This video shows how well the nazi party attracted new members and maintained supreme power. They controlled the people and provided a way oit of poverty.the sheer power that these nazis had is amazing to think about and sad too see the tragic way they used it.

i think that movie was intentionally made to perused people to join the Nazi regime. we see this through the kids aht were depicted in the movie who were blond and blue eyed and also showed the power that Hitler had over almost everybody. crowds of thousands and even millions were captivated by this man that it blinded almost all of them and when they finally opened up their eyes, it was too late

Isaiah Mutesasira said...

I agree wit volpe in that changing or capturing what Hitler did and almost glorifying it in front of the whole world is not for one second correct or fair

Nicky Simard said...

I think that the most important message of the film was that this film contributed greatly to the increase in Nazi party members by using propaganda. The film really showed how beneficial being a member of the party could be. It made people think that the standard of living of someone who was a supporter was luxurious and much better than someone who was not in the party. I think the director was successful in showing Hitler's power over his party and the party's power over Germany. Hitler was a leader that captured his audiences with his speech and put his members to action. Hitler seemed as a god to the Nazi party members. Every member would hail to him as he entered and area and they would chant to support him. There were parades, gatherings, flags, marching bands, and more all to impress Hitler like offerings.

Nicky Simard said...

I agree with Jenny that the director seemed to recieve such credit for turning into one of the world's most horrific events into something that seemed wonderful and something everyone should have taken part in.

I think this film was terrible in its message, but an amazing form of propaganda. It essentially made a god out of Hitler and solidified the strength of the Nazi party. Unfortunately, it also served to alienate the Jews and make them more of a target. The camera angles used were revolutionary and helped form the modern movie industry. In essence, from a technological and cinematic standpoint, "Triumph of the Will" is incredible and truly set the bar for all to follow. Unfortunately, it was done so well and its message was so effective that it helped convince many Germans that the extermination of an entire race was a valid and good idea.

Andrew_Lipke said...

I agree with Brenton. The most important message of the was that through the Nazi party and Hitler, Germany would be saved and made a better place. On the part of the director, she was extremely successful in showing parts of the rise of the Nazis that made them seem as if ever desicion they made was the right one for the people. Lastly, Hitler is portrayed as a demi-god in this film, a true German that was sent to rescue the German people, and fight back the demons that hell had hid in the lives of the ordainary people. He was there to save them, fix the ills of pure race, and bring about a better world.

This was a very well developed film for being made back in the 1930s. It was very convincing in that it made people want to join the Nazis. It made Hitler sound like a great leader and influenced people to follow him.
