PERIOD 2: THE LONGEST HATRED
You recently viewed the PBS documentary The Longest Hatred in class. What did you learn that you did not know before watching the film?

"The Longest Hatred" was one of the most interesting documentaaries I have ever watched in school. I had always wondered why people were so prejudice against people of the jewish faith, but now I understand, it was because they were blamed for the crusifiction of Jesus Christ. Later they were also discriminated by the Nazi's for being money hungry, and for not being part of the superior race, inferior, devil like. I ca't even believe people believed this. All people should be treated equaly no matter race, gender, religion of choice, sexuality, etc.
The longest hatred was a very interesting documentary. I did not know that Jews had been discriminated against way back then. It was suprising how the Christians blamed the Jews for the death of Jesus and took their hatred out on the Jews living in that day. They were extremely harsh towards the Jews even killing them sometimes. I thought it was interesting how Hitler cited many things that had happened back then in his Nazi work.
THe Longest Hatred was a really "eye-opening" film to me because i had no idea that the christian church shut out all jews and besically killed off all of them. I find it troubling seeing the images from world war two and from earlier killings. It's hard for me to think that people believed these things about people, and it sickens me to see whatpeople are capable of when they have a false belief. Also the fact that christianity marked them as "devil" like is troubling to me. This movie really taught me alot about how jewish people were and have been seen in the past.

For example they had to wear a gold badge if they were jewish. Seeing some of the corpses left behind from these tragic events really opened my eyes to the harsh reality of those events.
I learned information about antisemitism I had not known before. It was new to me that Hitler did not come up with his ideas but in fact took them from past beliefs. I didn't know the jews were hated for such a long time I thought it began around the time of the Nazis and Hitler. I find it interestingly horrible that the christians believed the jews were responsible for the death of jesus so then took out their anger on the current living jews. How could someone possibly blame a group for something their ancestors might have done. Using the jews as a scape goat was so wrong and is horrifying to see took place.
I found this documentary very enlightening. I had never understood why people were so prejudiced against Jews, when they practice a religion so closely related to Christianity. I learned that the Christians believed that Jesus was killed by Jews, even though he wasn't. This event lead to Christians discriminating against Jews, and equating them with all of the undesirable traits that a person can have. I now understand that the nazis weren't the first to discriminate Jews, and also that many of their tatics had been used previously in history.
I learned a lot about the roots of hatred towards jews from "the longest hatred". Before I watched the video I was not aware of how bad things were for jews after Jesus died. I didn't know that throughout Europe they were killed and discriminated against for nearly 2,000 years. This video also revealed to me that the Nazis weren't the first ones to kill jews by the thousands and try to seek revenge on them for the death of Jesus and other reasons. I was also shocked at how ridiculous it was that it took nearly 2,000 years for christians to absolve all blame to the jews for Jesus' death. Whether or not jews at the time were responsible for Jesus' death at the time is besides the point. For christians to put blame on jews that lives hundreds of years ago after Jesus died is erroneous and completely illogical. I grew great sympathy for what jews have gone through over the past 2,000 years after watching this video.

I also learned about how the Nazi's didn't have any original ideas. I knew that the Jewish people had been discriminated throughout history but to see to that extent was shocking.

Little did I know that there was so much history with the Jewish people previously. I had never realized how almost every religion, specifically Catholics had waged a holy war against the Jewish people for hundreds of years. This film just goes to show how intolerance not only existed long ago, but is still around today.
The longest Hatred taught me material i never knew. for example the documentary illustrates where the who hatred for "Jews" came from. the catholic church wanted to eases all jew trace from jesus and for that jews were the one who suffered the catholic church agenda. also mr. Gallagher said all that the Natiz did were not new material but everything cause of the Holocaust had been let up the the catholic church propaganda. Natiz where from catholic descend which blamed the jews for all the world miseries. the catholic church made the jews wear yellow ribbon to distinguish them from the crowd and the Natiz did the same by their ancestral hatred towards jews. Everything make sense on how the Holocaust happened, and nothing news but there has always been an agenda by the catholic church to illustrate Jesus as not being a jew ever in his life.

They were literally all the same kind of people. I just think its stupid that this was going on since ancient times and we have yet to learn that killing each other doesn't do anything for the situation.

Jews have maintained jobs, lived among us, and are no different than any other human. A human is a human and the documentary opens the eyes of anyone who did not know factual information about them. The documentary also shows the opinions that nazi's themselves had many years after Hitler's reign. The jews were tossed around like footballs and looked like pieces of rubber which is the most disturbing thing that can be seen. It is also awful that christians blame the jews for the death of Jesus. Overall this movie was very educational.

This shows how Hitler was able to brainwash a generation of youth, into hating someone for no other reason than what they believed. It also interested me how Hitler did not need to come up with this idea himself, because it had already existed for many years earlier.

I found it appalling that such actions were taken like slowly beating Jews, especially women and children. The idea of the Christians making them wear colored badges to represent their worthiness truly shows how low they were thought of by this religious group and its followers. I found it ridiculous that the sole reason for why they hated the Jews and made them suffer is because they blamed them for killing Jesus and wanted to make them pay.
