I was not in class today.
This film was another that truly made me realize the seriousness of the Holocaust. Before this film I never completely understood how many officials there were that had been so involved in the mass killing of the Jewish population so this film illustrated to me that there were other people besides Hitler that played a huge role in this. Another thing that surprised me after seeing the film was that Hitler and his followers claimed to be keeping everything a "secret", yet I'm sure many Germans knew about it, and obviously all of the Jewish community knew about it, so that was a little new to me.
I believe that the statement which claims the Nazi philosophy of "obedience, seizure and struggle had appeal in the thirties and can still appeal to millions today" is false. I think that governments all over the world have evolved a significant amount since the thirties. I believe that the world has learned a lot from the Holocaust and that societies strive for different ideals after conflict than did Nazi Germany. I learned after watching this film that there were many more powerful leaders in charge of making the Holocaust as horrible as it was. I never knew anything about the other major leaders of the Holocaust besides Hitler before watching this film.
I Knew that hitler hated the jews, but i didn't know that he didn't plan every method of killing or treatment, that there were other leaders that without the pressure from hitler planned it all and designed it, Hitler simply did not interfere. They were trying to keep it a secret even though almost all of Europe especially the parts that were near the camps. I think that the nazis planned a final solution because they were winning receiving victories one after the other, so as a guarantee for securing the future they decided to remove the final obstacle as soon and as fast as possible. Yes, I agree because this documentary made it clear that Hitler and the Nazis had thousands of supporters in their time, and when indoctrination at that level occurs, their numbers can only rise. In today's world, there are definitely plenty of people that are weak, ignorant, and uneducated enough that they would obey and agree with a superpower like the Nazis were during the 30's. Its obvious that anti-semitism is still prevalent today, and think that a lot of people around the world would agree with the Nazi philosophy of obedience, seizure and struggle because although times have changed, the people have not. One thing I didn't fully understand before watching this film was the process of evicting the Jews from their homes as well as the transportation and deportation of all of them to different parts of Germany.
I definitely agree with this statement. Though Society has learned a lot from the Holocaust people still would be appealed by the concept of obedience, seizure, and struggle. I think that people today are just as likely to be brainwashed by the Nazi philosophy because everyone is yearning to be accepted and a part of something. I learned while watching the video that the Holocaust was not all Hitler and his band of Nazis, it was also the public and the individual personalities of the Nazis that caused the Holocaust to occur.
I do believe that the Nazi philosophy can still appeal to people today. A philosophy like this is very appealing, as shown by all the support the Nazis gained. Obviously, I dont think this philosophy would appeal to millions of if used in the same way, but if it were used differently, I can see people wanting a government with a philosophy similar to this. Something I learned from watching this film is that there were many other significant figures, other than Hitler, that played a large role in the extermination of the Jews. I was also unaware of what the Jews went through when they were taken from their home and sent to the camps.
I agree with this statement because if times are bad enough people will look for someone to get them out of the situation no matter what they believe or say. Today people still are ignorant and will believe anything that someone who has power says. I think if something happened in the past it can happen now. I learned after watching this film was that many different people were involved with the camps and how they wanted to keep them secret from the public.
What this film did for me was give another face, other than Hitler to go along with the Nazi party. Himmler was just as ruthless, if not more and was probably more in control of the lives of the Jewish people than any of the Nazis at that time. I agree with the statement that Nazi Germany was more complex than just a nation misled by Hitler because so many people had "just follow orders" in order to have a Holocaust.
I do believe that people will still believe in the Nazi philosophy, beacuse when times are rough and people are weak theyre going to look for someone who is stronger and seems to know what they are doing, and when that person leads they will follow no matter how good or bad that person is. This was another film in class that made me see more into the Holocaust. it showed me more into how they plan to ethnically cleanse Germany from the Jews. I never knew that they're were more powerful leaders who took charge in this.
I disagree with the statement because I believe in the morality of America to overcome any attempt at obedience, seizure, and struggle. One thing I found very interesting in the film is that there was one point where the Nazis were not portrayed as dehumanized animals. The film talked about how shooting the jews had taken a toll on the robotic Nazis, "just following orders," and they needed to find a different killing technique. Of course this did not redeem them for being inhumane.
I found it extremely interesting that the people in the neighborhoods of the concentration camps had to actually dig the bodies because of contamination and stench. I would have thought that the people of Hitler would never have to do anything like this. However it shows how Hitler is not honest not even to his own people.
I agree with this statement. The population of Germany was not led astray by only Hitler. Himmler was also very heavily involved and responsible, as well as the Nazis who enforced their laws. Before watching this film, I was unaware that there was more than one leader during the Holocaust. I thought that Hitler was mainly responsible, and that everyone followed his rule. I understand better how the Holocaust happened now, because people were following multiple people’s force, not just one man’s.
I believe that some people in modern day would find the Nazi philosophy appealing. Although society has changed and people have learned from the Holocaust, there are still many people who are uneducated and would likely follow the Nazi philosophy just because it is superior to them and could easily take control over them. I think that many people were behind the Nazi belief because there were so many problems with the country that the Nazi party added a stability and the opportunity for people to regain hope for their country. I never knew until I watched this movie how little Hitler was in charge of the killings. This Movie explained how almost none of the orders to kill were given straight from Hitler which is something I never knew.
I agree with the statement and if people are in hard enough times, they will do anything to get better. Watching this film made me realize just how brutal the nazis were while they were in power. I never quite realized the fact that the jews were killed almost instantly after getting off the trains at Treblinka. I also never really realized how harsh the Nazis were that they would just take all of the dead bodies and throw them into a pit.
I very much agree with the statement. With the psychology of human beings, the power of suggestion is still very easily and very effectively applied to people in numbers. The example of Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany is simply an example of this psychology taken to the extreme. Things in society today such as the media show the same psychology and manner of suggestion in mass numbers as Nazi Germany, in that people follow the opinion of the majority population in order to fit in, without a real sense of why they are doing what they do.
In addition to this, the film provided yet another eye-opening experience to the very real tragedies that took place in the Holocaust.
I agree and disagree that the Nazi philosophy of obedience, seizure and struggle would appeal to some and not to others. Some people are willing to do anything just to surpass and achieve and go beyond others. They are willing to look for someone or find a way to get to the top, others I feel like have learned that there are other ways to do things without troubling innocent people. One of the things that stuck to me was that when they were putting the Jews in the trains, they also mentioned that the gypsies were also being shipped off because they were almost like the Jews. Also there was the part at the end where it talked about how Treblinka after the people were killed, it was destroyed and they wanted to destroy evidence. I never knew much about the other leaders that thought the same way as Hitler did until this movie brought it up.
I think that this film was probably one of the most horrific we have seen in class. Finding out how much jews they killed and that they also tried to cover up just came to show how much of cowards the Nazis were. How much they didn't want people to know so bad that they would kill their own. I think this one of the best this year.

With that said, there are still so many people that would listen and follow any order or belief that a leader also believes. It is easy for trends to spread and for people to do or say things without enough knowledge to support their opinion, which is what causes trouble. Overall, I’d say people have significantly changed enough for there to be a strong debate between any opposing views and with that, it would be more difficult for the Nazi philosophy to be successful. The problem would be that there are still many people that are followers and could be persuaded into the Nazi philosophy, possibly without even realizing what they are agreeing to. I learned that even though Hitler is the most well known leader during this time, there were actually still more leaders that were also very involved and responsible for the tragic actions taking place.
I believe that throughout the time Hitler has been known for what he did, from the start to the end, more and more people have become brainwashed by the Nazis into thinking that what they are doing is ok. They easily follow orders whether they are right or wrong. I also believe that today people have become more naieve. They dont realize just how much damage Hitler created, and they dont seem to understand how many peoples lives were destroyed by him. watching this film made me realize that Hitler wasnt the only one responsible for all the deaths of milllions of innocent people. I now realized that there were many other people who followed Hitler because they believed what he said was true.
I do agree with the statement that the nazi philosophy can still apply to people today. Many people think that they are superior to others because of factors such as race, gender, sexual orientation, and even still religion. I think some people need to feel like they are superior to others to feel good about themselves, which is why when Hitler told the Germans they were better than the Jews they all believed it. This film once again re-opened my eyes to the brutality and mercilessness of the Nazis towards the Jews and other minorities during the Holocaust.
This film was very interesting because for one they split up the men and women and spent money on "sanitizing" them or cleaning them only to follow up to murder them in a gas chamber. Listening to the man talk about the experience was heartbreaking and its sad that so many people know very little about the holocaust and im afraid that history could indeed repeat itself
This film opened my eyes to so many different things about Nazi Germany. It displayed how many people were involved in the killing of the Jews. I thought it was disgusting to see any group of people treated this way no matter the situation was. The Jews didnt only die due to being killed but by starvation and such poor treatement.

I think that the idea of the Nazi's can still be widespread today. There are so many bad people in this world that do not know the harsh realities of the Holocaust. People say that history always repeats itself. Therefore, unless people are educated on the subject, a similar event could happen. Too many people are bystanders and not enough people stick up for others. I learned many things from this film. I learned how actual Nazi's felt about their actions.

I think the Nazi philosophy is still believed today.Killing people to be strong still happens today i have see it. in my country. I have seen groups of people killed others groups. They are gangs. They try to take control fo the place, for power.
