1.)What would you consider to be the most important message of the film?
The most important part of the film is that it is a propaganda message trying to portray Hitler as a hero. The music is strong and uplifting and it portrays him as the perfect and well loved leader.
2.) The director of the film tried to portray Germany's return as a great power. Do you think she was successful?
I think that for that time she did exactly what she needed to. The film was strong and made the point very clear. Germany was back.
3.) What is the image of Hitler in the film?
Hitler is the hero. Everyone loves him as he lands bravely on the ground and waves to all of the people of German from his car. If someone didn't know what he had done, he would look like the perfect leader.
1. I think the message I received from the film is how successfully propaganda can affect one's portrayal.
2. Like Julian, I think the director did a great job in the creation of the film. She was able to show how powerful the government was, and how it helped the people. She was also able to show how united the coutry was by showing the crowds cheering Hitler.
3. Hitler is portrayed as an extremely powerful leader. He is seen delivering powerful speechs to the masses, but is also seen graciously accepting praise. This emphasis makes him seem humble as well as strong.
I thought the most important message of "Triumph of the Will" was to give a realistic representation of government propaganda. There were very few words mentioned during the film, but the music was able to get emotions of celebration, victory, and happiness across.
I found the director of this film very successful. I was impressed by the statement that the film was the same as the Germans would have seen in 1934 at the movies. The film was powerful and had great footage of Hitler interacting with the public.
The image of Hitler in this film showed somewhat how so many people became followers of him. He was a victorious speaker and had so much confidence through out his visits with German citizens. I agree with Julian about the image of Hitler. So far, the film has portrayed him as being a nearly perfect leader. J

I would consider the most important message of the film to be that Hitler is a role model and a hero. I also think that the director of the film was successful in portraying Germany's return as a great power becasue the clips of all of the soldiers made it seem as though Germany was very powerful. In this film Hitler is portrayed as a humble hero and leader. He is shown in a very positive manner and he seems to be a good leader to follow.

I agree, Hitler was shown throughout the entire film with people around him all the time. It just showed how so many people believed in this man and supported his ways.

The message the film was trying to show was the triumph associated with Hitler. It showed Germans out of the suffering they once knew, it had exciting music and even more excited people.

The film did what it set out to do. It portrayed Hitler as a phenomenal leader who could bring Germany back to its former glory.

Hitler is portrayed as a loved, intelligent, friendly and influential leader.
Julian, I agree that the film really portrayed Hitler as the hero to Germany.
I think the most important message of the film was to show that Germany was doing great under hitlers control. There were many seens in which it showed everyone was happy, had food to eat, took showers, and had money so it made it seem as though Germany was perfect.I think the director was very succesful in portraying germany as a great power again. Hitlers image in the film is one of a great leader whom everyone in Germany adores. He speaks great and takes the time to talk to individual soldiers. So this film did a good job in portraying hitler as a good leader.
I thought the most important message of the film how many German people were swayed into loving and warshipping Hitler and how easy it was for him to take control. I think the directer of the film made a clear point, as she intended to do. She did a great job with the music as well as showing how many people were followers of Hitler by showing the crowds of people cheering etc. The image of Hitler in the film is that he is basically one of the best leaders of all time. He is considered a hero and everyone agrees with what he has to say because he can do no wrong.

I agree that he looked like the perfect leader and a hero in the film.
I was absent from class the day we watched this film.
1) I think the most important message from this film is that anyone can be portrayed a certain way, and if you didn’t know better like most people during that time you would have thought of Hitler as heroic, and all those other things that the film portrays.
2) I think the director of the film was very successful in portraying Germany’s return as a great power. The clips were strategically placed in the film and I thought that after watching that film compared to seeing pictures of other places around the world at that time, that the conditions in Germany were far better than those anywhere else.
3) Hitler will bring back Germany and this is what he has done to the German people. I thought it portrayed Hitler as a very heroic, powerful, and glorious leader for Germany.

I completely agree with you about the most important message of the film. The use of propaganda in this film is so subtle, that you don’t even realize it is there until you take another look at it which makes it so successful.
I think the most important message in this film is that the nazis were not liked as much as you would think. At one point they only had about 3 percent of the vote. Hitler was not elected to be chancellor either, so not everyone agreed with the nazis. I think the director was very successful at showing Germany's return to power. In the depression people were still being fed and taken care of. That shows how much power Germany had at that point. HItler was shown as a very good public speaker. He was able to captivate very large crowds with just his words. Not many people can do that.

I think that the most important message of the film was how really good propaganda can get people to believe in anything, or in this case, anyone. Even something as crazy as the mass murder of a whole group of people. It provided insight as to what the German people were seeing and maybe why they went along with the Holocaust. I think the film director was very successful in portraying Germany as a great power. She showed all of the supporters, and she showed many clips of their new leader who seemed to have captivated his audience quite well. Anyone who watched the film would get the idea that Germany was a united country and was anything but weak. Hitler seems like a hero in this film with all of his followers and people who worship him. There are even clips shown of little children staring in awe at the sight of him. He is shown to be an extremely powerful leader who is well respected by the mass majority of people.
I agree with Julians comment that after watching this video, if someone did not have any background information on Hitler or Nazi Germany, they would probably think Hitler was a great leader.
1. I think that the most important message is that propaganda is powerful enough to easily turn an entire country to Nazism and have them put faith into a man such as Hitler.
2. The director portrayed the German people as a proud people who were pulling themselves back together after their near collapse. The film shows that the people are prospering while the rest of the world is in a depression and has a hopeful tone to it.
3. This film portrayed Hitler as the answer to all of Germany's problems. It showed him as a strong leader who would lead them to glory.

I agree that the music was defiantly used to convey a mood of pride and hope for the German people. The music that played while Hitler was on screen also suggested a powerful force behind him.

1. I believe the most important part of the film was to show the viewer the way Hitler was seen and how he was looked upon as a great leader and honorable man.
2. I think the director did successfully portray Germany's return because the same method fooled hundreds of thousands of citizens as well.
3. In the film, Hitler is seen as a loved, respected leader whos primary goal was to better his country and help Germany out of the depression. He was the only realistic option Germany had for a possible change in the country, so he was looked upon as a very honorable hero.
